Khan Academy
Khan Academy is free to anyone and offers academic lessons for students from kindergarten through early college, with topics that include math, grammar, science & engineering, computing, arts & humanities, economics & finance, and test prep (SAT, LSAT, MCAT, NCLEX-RN and more). Khan Academy also offers lessons related to college admissions, career exploration, personal finance and entrepreneurship.

Workshops
WorkSource centers offer a variety of free workshops to help with basic skill development and improvement on a variety of topics, such as:

  • Computer Skills: Basic computer navigation, internet, email, and basic to intermediate level usage of common computer software, like Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Professional Skills: Develop or improve communication, self-management, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Financial Literacy Skills: Helps individuals understand financial management and budgeting which are useful skills and help individuals become self-sufficient and achieve financial stability. (May not be available in all centers.)

Certified Work Ready
WorkSource Oregon staff will work with job seekers to validate employment skills and then certify work readiness. Work Ready Certification means WorkSource Oregon job seekers have a clear career goal and have had their employment readiness skills validated. Certified job seekers are prioritized for job and training referrals.

National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
WorkSource Oregon job seekers can earn this free certificate and share their certificate levels with employers and educators to demonstrate their level of career readiness. The NCRC certificate documents skill level in three areas which are critical to workplace success in most jobs:

  • Applied Mathematics: How you apply mathematical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to work-related problems.
  • Workplace Documents: How you read and use written text (letters, directions, signs, notifications, policies and regulations) to do your job.
  • Graphic Literacy: How you use graphics such as charts, graphs, and tables to find information you need for your job.
Before WorkSource job seekers can sit for the NCRC exams, they must first complete the Worldwide Interactive Network (WIN) Initial Skills Review.
